Meditation

Expand on this: Proverbs 11:2 teaches us that we should not be full of ourselves. Someone full of themselves, in other words, prideful, has no room for correction, feedback, or direction that is outside of themselves. Where as someone who is humble is not full of themselves and is able to be filled with God's wisdom. You can either be filled with your own thoughts, or filled with God's wisdom.

Proverbs 11:2 is a verse from the Bible that imparts wisdom about the importance of humility and the dangers of pride. It states, "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom." This verse serves as a reminder that being prideful or full of oneself can lead to negative consequences, while humility opens the door to wisdom and growth.

When someone is described as being "full of themselves" or prideful, it means that they have an excessively high opinion of themselves, often accompanied by an inflated sense of self-importance. This attitude can prevent them from recognizing their flaws, accepting correction or feedback, and being open to direction from others. Pride can blind individuals to their own shortcomings, limiting their ability to learn and grow.

On the other hand, humility is characterized by a modest and respectful view of oneself. A humble person recognizes their own limitations and acknowledges the value and contributions of others. They are open to receiving correction, feedback, and guidance because they understand that they do not have all the answers. Humility allows individuals to cultivate a teachable spirit, enabling them to learn from others and develop wisdom.

The notion of being filled with God's wisdom stems from the belief that God is the ultimate source of wisdom. By cultivating humility and acknowledging our dependence on a higher power, we open ourselves up to receiving divine wisdom. This means being receptive to the teachings and guidance found in religious texts, such as the Bible, and seeking a deeper understanding of God's will. Through this process, individuals can align their thoughts and actions with God's wisdom, enabling them to make better choices and lead a more fulfilling life.

Ultimately, the contrast between being filled with one's own thoughts and being filled with God's wisdom highlights the importance of humility. By setting aside pride and embracing humility, we create space within ourselves to be receptive to the wisdom that comes from a higher power. This shift in perspective allows us to grow, learn, and make decisions that are guided by principles greater than our own limited understanding.
