If I were to rewrite this proverb for us today, it would say - A fragile person gets triggered easily, but a thoughtful person is not reactionary. Proverbs 12:16 offers valuable insights about emotional self-control and wisdom, especially relevant in today's outrage culture and trigger-prone society.

One big idea from this verse is that being able to control your emotions is really important. Today, people often react right away without thinking, especially on the internet. This verse tells us to pause and think before reacting. Another idea is that we shouldn't let every insult or negative comment bother us. In today's culture, people often get "triggered" or very upset by things they find offensive. This verse reminds us that it's okay to let some things slide. We don't have to let every negative comment ruin our day. This helps us become more resilient and emotionally strong. This verse also suggests that by not reacting quickly to every insult, we can avoid unnecessary arguments. In a world where disagreements can turn ugly fast, this is really good advice.

Lastly, this verse tells us that wise people don't react impulsively, they think before they act. This is a reminder that true wisdom isn't about knowing a lot of stuff, it's about knowing when and how to respond. Sometimes, the strongest person isn't the one who yells the loudest, but the one who takes the time to think before they speak.
