Proverb of the day
Open rebuke is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

Meditation
This proverb tells us that actions speak louder than words when it comes to true friendship. It encourages people to show their care and concern by talking openly and honestly, instead of just having good intentions without doing anything. It also warns us to watch out for people who might seem nice but are actually sneaky.
Open rebuke vs. secret love: This part compares openly telling someone when they're wrong (action) with secretly caring about them (intention). It says that it's better to be honest and upfront, even if it means criticizing a friend. This way, we focus on doing things, not just thinking about them.
In friendships, being open about what we think, even if it's critical, is more valuable than keeping our feelings to ourselves. Openness helps build trust and makes relationships stronger. By talking about what's bothering us, we can learn and grow together, and avoid letting bad feelings build up. Open communication also helps us get to know each other better and offer support when needed.
On the other hand, keeping our feelings hidden can lead to frustration and stop us from growing as people. If we don't express our emotions, it can weaken our friendships. So, being open and honest is key to having strong, supportive relationships.
Faithful wounds vs. deceitful kisses: The second part of the proverb talks about the "faithful wounds" of a friend versus the "deceitful kisses" of an enemy. A friend's actions, even if they're tough to hear, are better because they show they really care about you. But an enemy might act all nice and friendly, even though they don't mean it and might even want to hurt you. This idea also highlights the importance of actions over intentions.
So, Proverbs 27:5-6 is all about the power of actions. It tells us to be open and honest in how we show our care for others, instead of just thinking about it without doing anything. It also reminds us to be careful with people who seem nice but might have hidden motives.
