Meditation
This ancient proverb sheds light on the difference between a wise person's focus and a fool's scattered attention.
Imagine wisdom as a kind of vision. The wise individual sees clearly, focusing on what's right in front of them. Their "sense in sight" means they're in tune with the present moment, understanding its significance and dealing with immediate challenges head-on. They aren’t just smart; they know where to place their attention.
On the other hand, the proverb describes the fool as someone whose gaze is everywhere but the present. Their eyes, looking "to the ends of the earth," symbolize a mind always wandering, easily distracted, or perhaps lost in grand but distant dreams. Instead of grappling with the now, they're often caught daydreaming or chasing the next shiny thing.
So, when asking if you can see wisdom, the answer is clear. Wisdom isn’t just about knowing things. It's about knowing where to focus, recognizing the importance of the present, and acting on it.
Prayer
Lord, help us to keep wisdom in view and not be fooled by the world.
